Community Service

Rabbi David Weinberger
Community service is any work that benefits the community and is performed by one person or a group of people. The reasons behind it may vary from person to citizenship or school and college graduation requirements or as a substitution for a penalty of some juvenile or other crimes. It is performed for the needy and destitute or disabled people, senior citizens, or to help animals of your community and is not a paid service. It is often organized with the help of a local group.

A professor defined community service as a student-centered form of teaching, only with less lectures and more interactive healthy discussions as it engages them in self-reflection, builds their character, and teaches them how to apply whatever they have learned until now to solve the issues they see around them and give back to the community and be responsible and active citizens of their State.

Benefits of Community Service

Community Service helps in the personal, interpersonal and cognitive growth of students and equips them with the basic knowledge required to understand the world around them. It makes them aware of the needs of the community and the role they can play to fulfill them and have a positive impact on society and reflect on their efforts in the future.

Some of the most common benefits of taking part in any community service project are as follows:
  1. The psychological benefits include increased feelings of satisfaction by a person after helping someone else. It increases their confidence. It also helps reduce stress, anxiety and fight depression.
  2. The social benefits include an increase in the students’ engagement with the members of their community, connect and develop bonds with them, increase social awareness about the community needs and the civic and social responsibility they have.
  3. The cognitive benefits include personal growth from the new experiences, development of better interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. The career prospects of the students participating in the community service also get better as it allows them to step up to leadership positions within organizations. The chances of them getting good employments, getting work-related skills, building good references and networks with potential employers.
  5.  Some other skills that get developed in the students or other people performing community service include leadership skills, conflict management, time management, problem-solving, collaboration, and teamwork.
  6. It helps people develop a more profound understanding of the world they live in and realize how their efforts can make a difference in someone else’s life. They learn tolerance, empathy and compassion as they develop a global perspective.

Benefits to give Charity

Rabbi David Weinberger
Giving charity is an important part of life. It is the act of giving rather than receiving without demanding anything in return at all. This act of virtue might sound to be difficult and something that could be difficult to do but once an individual starts practicing it, it becomes a regular part of life. It also helps to create empathy in the individuals that make it a habit of giving charity and create a better society where everyone supports each other and society becomes a better place than before.
Some many different organizations and institutions are working intending to give charity amongst the people who are needy and creating a good impact on the people. In addition to this, there are a lot of benefits of giving charity and it is an act that should be continuously promoted.

Protection of the local community

Doing charity has a lot of positive effects on the community. It protects the local community helping them in various ways and protecting from a lot of problems and issues that they might face soon. When locals give charity they are supporting the programs that are present for the well-being of the community.

Reduces rates of stress

The level of satisfaction and happiness amongst people who volunteer and give charity is a lot more than those who don’t. There are studies present as well which support this stance and encourage people to give more charity and take part in more charitable events.

Increase the sense of civic duty

Every individual must take care of their family but it is also an important civic duty to take care of their community as well. When individuals volunteer in charitable events or organizations and give charity in different ways they are increasing a sense of civic duty in them which is important for an organization to grow and prosper.

Improves satisfaction

According to different studies, people who give a lot in their community tend to develop very good and appreciable habits in them. They become selfless and devote themselves more to giving rather than receiving. They become more generous and a sense of responsibility eventually awakens in them.

This act of selfless devotion and giving is important for both; the community and the individual. It helps both ways, contributing to the wellness of the society by the progress and prosperity and through a person’s development by keeping them satisfied and happier.

3 Unknown Benefits Of Community Services!

Rabbi Dovid Weinberger
What makes community services different from a regular job is that you do not offer these services for making money. Instead, community services are offered to help others grow, make a better society and develop healthy relationships with your fellow citizens. Community services are beneficial for the volunteer as well as for the person who is being helped. This, consequently, benefits the overall community. There are a number of benefits of these services and they can help you in progressing in your professional and personal lives as well. Following are the few benefits in this regard:

Community benefits:

A positive environment is shaped when people who are in need are helped and taken care of by others. This helps a community develop a healthy relationship with each other. Through community services, people can help others know that they are not alone and that they can depend on them when they need help. To shape a healthy community, all we need is socially responsible people. Depending on others is not a lasting thing and this is the reason why people must be involved in starting their own small scale businesses. No one can survive while depending on others and at any point in life, it becomes important to have a proper approach towards one’s own work.

Professional benefits:

Not many people know that community services also help people find a good job. The employer takes this as a plus point when you tell them that you have been participating in different projects related to community services. Gone are the days when individuals used to have an outstanding methodology towards one single occupation and they felt that promoting and publicizing are not their fields. These days, promotion and advertising have become a basic piece of each business. In a similar manner, religion has transformed and people are now incorporating technology in order to have greater impact on the lives of the people.

Academic benefits:

Through community services, students can score very well. In colleges and schools, students who participate in different community services are given extra points which enhances their overall academic results.
